May the fourth be with you!

Day 2 of going commando. I’m not really certain how this became a thing but through sheer laziness here we are. It all began yesterday — between hitting the Peloton (after a very long hiatus) and jumping on for work I decided that I’d resolve the underwear issue at “some point later in the day” when it was most convenient. That didn’t happen. So this morning I thought, well, no one was harmed and aside from feeling a little awkward it was quite liberating so… why not turn this into an experiment and soldier on for a week. Unlike exercising, woodworking, and all the other interests I have picked up and then let wither, this one actually doesn’t require me to do anything. Winning!

But I think there’s something there I need to further think about. Can the same principle be applied to this blog? Why haven’t I updated it in so long? Stuff has been happening — the house, work, kids, play — but most of that existed prior to my last write up anyway, so what was it? Is there a way to get some stuff written down each week that captures my thoughts by doing… nothing?

Hello! I’m the headless Gundam.

Nope, unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. In the end I just started writing this because I thought my future self, kids, or anyone reading this may find it amusing. It’s fascinating what can motivate you to start at one place and end up in another. All this makes me think of the TV show House where the doc (Hugh Laurie) solves the case whilst doing something completely different. Strange how the brain works.

Anyway, now that I’m here and typing there’s a heap of stuff I want to note down before my memory consigns it to the ether. Like the fact I went with the missus to watch Batman in 4DX and that I’m still in two minds whether being jolted around in your seat in sync with the action added to the experience. Or that the Severance TV show was excellent and written by Ben Stiller.

Kid and puppy. Staring.

Or that we now have a puppy! After testing a few names her name eventually became Biscuit (initially London). Or that last week I tried shaving a dog for the first time ever and gave her a lion cut — and yes, only male lions have a mane, but hey, it looks sweet! Or that I picked up a couple of Gundam sets alongside a scribing tool, mini drill, and airbrush kit (still unopened). Or… and so on and so on.

All this took about 10 minutes to write and I’m happy with that. Until next week.

Did I mention I joined a comic book club at the beginning of the year? This is what we’re reading at the moment.
