First post ever

First post ever

Welcome to my first blog post ever. I’m not really certain what to type here but as it’s my first post I’m sure that’s how it is for everyone. So to begin with I thought I’d just document what’s going on at the moment and then over time I’m sure I’ll get better at this.

Next week is my wife’s 40th birthday. Today, light.gg says I’m 33rd in the world in D2. Yesterday I found out my current typing speed is about 50 wpm according to 10fastfingers . And over the last fortnight I completed my 4th woodworking project from Steve Ramsey’s woodworking for mere mortals course (a letter tray) and I got the wife’s website up and running. So relatively productive.

Alongside this website I decided to set up Twitter and Instagram profiles. I’m really embracing the social media aspect of the internet. Not certain what I will post on but another thing to learn about so that’ll be fun.

Since moving to the USA back in mid-August 2020 I have invested in power tools, as you do. In tandem with the woodworking course referenced above I have been documenting my efforts which I have put on YouTube . I’m fairly pleased with the progress I have made with editing the videos and the improvement in production value but it did mean taking some time to get up to speed with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. All to say there’s been a few skills that I have to train up on to get to where we are today.

Right, that’s enough to begin with… I think my next post will be around the process of setting up a website and how I ended up using Squarespace but initially began with Gatsby, Sanity, Netlify, and GitHub which didn’t necessarily end as I would’ve liked but may revisit in the future.

Ciao for now!
